Wildfire Preparedness

Our location in the wildland-urban interface makes wildfire our most significant natural hazard. The good news: most of the factors that determine whether your home survives are within your control.

Official Wildfire Information

For official wildfire alerts, inspections, and fire district services, visit the Woodside Fire Protection District. This page provides practical preparation guidance from WPV-Ready.

Embers cause 90% of home destruction during wildfires. They travel more than a mile ahead of the fire front, landing on combustible materials on and around your home. A home with defensible space and fire-resistant materials can survive a wildfire that destroys neighboring homes without those protections.

The Ready, Set, Go! Framework

Free Home Assessments from WFPD

The Woodside Fire Protection District offers free wildfire home assessments. A WFPD firefighter will visit your property and provide specific recommendations for defensible space and home hardening.
